EMPLOYEE OF THE DEAD GETS A KILLER NEW LOOK WITH BRAND NEW POSTER

Employee of the Dead has unveiled a brand new poster, giving Aaron Truss’ upcoming British comedy-horror feature a fresh visual identity as its Kickstarter campaign continues gathering momentum.

Following the project’s recent relaunch on Kickstarter, Truss and the team behind Employee of the Dead decided it was time to rethink the visual language of the film and create artwork that better represented the scale, characters and gloriously chaotic horror-comedy tone of the project.

And frankly, the dead have never looked this employable.

The new artwork comes courtesy of Ignacio Mazuecos, who has been involved with the project since its early stages and will also serve as Digital Art Director on the finished film. Mazuecos worked with Truss to develop an ensemble-driven design inspired by classic monster movies and the character-packed theatrical posters traditionally associated with major Hollywood productions.

The result is a poster designed to do more than simply advertise the film. It gives audiences a glimpse into the world, personalities and mayhem awaiting them inside Employee of the Dead.

The artwork was also made possible through the talents and contributions of Hannah Davis and horror filmmaker/director Jake West, bringing together some seriously impressive genre talent behind the project’s expanding visual identity.

The poster received an exclusive reveal through UK horror outlet Love Horror, which also explored the creative process behind the redesign.

FROM SUPERMARKET AISLES TO THE BIG SCREEN

Written by Aaron Truss and Joe Acres, Employee of the Dead follows a group of independent filmmakers attempting to make their own horror movie, with the production itself becoming part of the story.

At the centre is Hooban, a supermarket night worker and frustrated filmmaker who gets the opportunity to finally make his zombie movie, provided he can somehow shoot it among the supermarket aisles without his manager discovering what is happening.

Because apparently making an independent horror feature was not difficult enough already.

The feature expands upon the team’s original 2008 short film and brings together an increasingly impressive collection of British comedy and horror talent.

The cast includes Joe Acres, Dani Harmer, Nick Helm, Paul Casar and Ellie Raé Winstone, alongside genre favourites including Nicholas Vince, Kevin Martin, Sean Cronin and Amy Bowden.

Jake West is also directing the movie-within-the-movie sequences, allowing the fictional zombie production at the centre of the story to develop its own distinctive visual identity, complete with practical effects, blood and plenty of gore.

KICKSTARTER CONTINUES TO GROW

The poster reveal arrives as the film’s Kickstarter campaign continues to gain momentum, having already passed £10,800 at the time of Love Horror’s exclusive report.

Now the team has its sights firmly set on the campaign’s next major target.

At £15,000, Employee of the Dead will unlock its Horror Movie Tribute stretch goal, with plans for a collection of classic horror-inspired tribute posters featuring members of the cast.

Exactly which horror movies are getting the Employee of the Dead treatment remains under wraps.

Probably wise.

Some things are more fun when you leave the cellar door closed for a little longer.

For independent horror fans, the campaign remains an opportunity to directly support the production while unlocking additional material, rewards and behind-the-scenes content as the film moves towards production.

Check out the Employee of the Dead Kickstarter, support the film and help the team drag that £15,000 stretch goal screaming across the finish line.

The dead are clocked in!
