Horror rock outfit Ghosts in the Graveyard have unearthed “Better in Black,” the first single from their reworked debut, in a music video that premiered exclusively via Rue Morgue earlier this week.
The video is not new footage. It was shot and directed in 2015 by guitarist and programmer Paul Morgan, with vocalist Byron C. Miller producing and editing. What has changed is everything around it. For the release of “Better in Black: Resurrected Version,” Miller cut the remastered track into the original edit, added a new intro, and re-graded the entire piece to give it what he describes as a dug-up-from-the-grave feel.
“I’m glad that people will now get to experience the song and the video in its best possible form,” Miller said.
The single arrives ahead of Monsters for the Masses: Resurrected, out October 23rd from Re:Mission Entertainment. A decade after the 2016 original, the band has gone back to the source material for a full remix, remaster, and new cover art. Morgan rebuilt each track from the ground up for mixes the band calls more melodic, more aggressive, and more immersive, with fresh mastering from Chris Longo.
Miller, who spent eight years as co-frontman of God Module before founding Ghosts in the Graveyard, framed the reissue as unfinished business:
“Back in 2015, when we recorded the album, we were in a bit of a rush to share it with the world and honestly, we didn’t have the resources to give it the mix it deserved. Now, after everything we’ve learned, and with Paul having grown into an incredibly skilled music producer, it felt like the right time to revisit our debut for its 10-year anniversary.
